Do you want a healthier lifestyle and stronger sense of calm, but are not sure where to start? There are places designed for just such curious minds scattered throughout the U.S. and beyond. Check out the Optimum Health Institute in San Diego, California and Austin, Texas, which encourages a holistic lifestyle in their three-week program. Guests initially eat a raw organic vegetarian diet, drink pure water, and do colon cleansing in preparation for a three day juice fast.
The participants also learn how to properly prepare and combine foods, how to emotionally detoxify and achieve healthy self-esteem and how to forgive themselves and others.
They pray and meditate, journal, and study spirituality in a place open to people of all religious backgrounds.
If Puerto Rico is more your style, head to the Ann Wigmore Natural Institute for a one or two week certification program they call “living foods boot camp” involving their famous energy soup, getting cozy with wheatgrass juice, and learning not only yoga and foods preparation but composting, sprouting, skin care and more.
In another tropical setting, there’s a place also founded by now deceased author and health expert Wigmore called the Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida. Also proponents of a raw foods diet, they offer yearlong residential programs lasting from one to three weeks. Guests can also take a proactive approach to teach others what they have learned at Hippocrates by taking a nine-week Health Educator program which focuses on living foods nutrition and related therapies.
In these stressful times, I hope institutes such as these create healthier and calmer people sprouting up all over!
Wow. That’s good to know that we have done in Puerto Rico. Go for healthy living!
