Veggie Food Making More Appearances

Veggies R' Us
When you have your eyes open you will often see new and exciting things in the world of veggie food, and I wanted to share a few recent discoveries in San Diego.
At a recent vegan comedy show with Zach “MC Mr Napkins” Sherwin (hilarious rapper I caught for the first time) and my funny friend Leo Flowers who both came to San Diego from Los Angeles, the crowd was wowed with vegan chocolates by Linda’s Sweet Treats. They offer many vegan and some gluten-free products such as muffins, scones, cinnamon rolls, baklava and more. They sell at Picasso Naturals, and in June Linda’s should be back at the City Heights Farmer’s Market on Saturdays. Find them on Facebook.
Another place for vegan chocolate — in this case dark and mixed with exotic herbs and spices — is Eclipse Chocolat. They use organic products when possible and have a cute cafe for hanging out and enjoying an indulgence.
Cardamom Cafe and Bakery is not only charming but makes a good cup of chai and offers many vegetarian options to boot. They have a few vegan choices like a soyrizo and potatoes burrito, and a bulgur wheat platter with a medley of superfoods as colorful as the cafe — walnuts, cranberries and other goodies with pomegranate vinaigrette. They are only daily at 7 am, but only until 2 pm.
As always, things are changing in the world of veggie food. Evolution Fast Food (formerly Nature’s Express) is now only open as a drive-thru along with a little indoor area carrying to-go wraps and snacks, drinks, desserts, etc. Their raw items remind one of the beloved Rancho’s store that used to be in North Park.
Keep your eyes open and you never know what you might discover.

Thank you so much Paige! I’m glad everyone enjoyed the chocolates, I was sad I couldn’t make it to the event. My stuff is also available at Latte Mi Corazon, Cream Coffee Bar, and the UCSD Food Co-Op just so you know
